Magician puts rope around specs waist and then pulls it right through their body?

What is this effect?

there are hundreds, possibly thousands of methods out there for this effect. A couple of dozen can be found in Abbots rope magic, for starters.
and most of them are non gimicked rope.

some use the lazy magician method, others use the grandmothers necklace pronciple.. Check tarbell, or mark wilson. i guarentee that the effect is there too!

I know there are a few versions of this. Hang em High is one that was put out by Al Cohen.

I think however in Hang em High the rope goes through the magicians body, spectators hold the ends of the rope and brings the middle section of the rope around to the magicians back, the magician grabs the ropes on both sides of his/her body while the spectators are still holding the ends. Magician takes a step backward and the rope pentrates his/her body leaving the rope now in front of himself and the spectators are still holding the ends...if memory serves.

google rope through spectator's body, and you will find a few things of interest.

some exposure , some not.

There's a whole host of "rope thorugh (insert various limb parts)" on Daryl's Expert Rope Magic made easy. Although it is a 3 dvd set, and probably contains a bit too much extra material if your only after this one particular effect. Just an idea though.

But if you do buy it, seek comfort in the knowledge that you'll probably never need another source for rope magic ever again. Its absolultely crammed with rope material. All expertly explained in Daryl's user-friendly, easy to follow teaching style. (Some of the spirit ties and cut & restored effects are pretty good too)
