Practice 'Training Regimes'

Postby MagicBell » Sep 6th, '08, 13:20

Does anyone have any sort of practice routines for just going through techniques?

The end of the first chapter of RRTCM had a good one for that chapter's content alone (overhand shuffle) but there aren't more.

It can be easy to perform a move when you're practicing it over and over again, but then when put into the middle of a trick and the middle of other moves and while trying to misdirect and patter and present, it becomes a whole different beast.

I go through a manipulation routine just when I watch TV or if I happen to have a deck of cards. It really helps.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Yeah it's easy to play with cards while watching TV. Good practice.

I just realised my question could be borderline exposure so it's difficult to answer with "i do some of these, followed by some of those..." etc.

Oops.

When practising with cards, I usually start with a couple of shuffles, overhand, riffle, hindu etc, controlling cards to places, keeping topstock etc and then do a few false until it's fully back to my usual standard.

Then move on to some contols, passes, side steals etc and finally reveals. All the moves I use regularly until I'm in the zone and then move onto actually practising my whole routines!
