Hurah! A day off. Out of idle curiosity, I decided to put a 4 inch galvanised steel screw and an iron nail on my AVO meter. They conduct electricity with a resistance so low I can't detect it.

If you need any help with chips or transistors during the project, drop me a line. I do a bit of robotics on the side and build my own sensors and sensor logic.

He he... True, but I couldn't do what I'm doing with the stuff available back then.

So I have all my components after spending the morning in the electrical wholesalers and the art & craft shop. Don't worry about that other whatchimicallit machine bringing about the end of the world. Worry about what's going to happen in my shed this afternoon.

It works! It works! It works! Hurrah!

Now all I've got to do is the aesthetics which for me is the fun part. However the circuitry for my electric ouija board works. God it was hard work. The manual says it should take around 30 minutes. Took me 2 hours. Phew.

Why have all the lights in London suddenly gome dim?

While you're there (and working on the review :) ), would you like to comment on the overall cost of materials to make the device?

Cheers,

Pete

Get yourself a Maplins catalogue - I was amazed at the amount of electronics stuff that they sell

It's well priced too

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Yeah. Maplins is the way to go. I would say that I got all the components for under £20. Then I needed the box which cost £12 or something.

I bought a dog kennel kit, 6ft by 6 by 10 said two adults could put it together in about 2 hrs. Took my wife and I about 5 hours and we work very well together. I built the dog house from scratch it has two rooms, framed, insulated, laminated floor, ceder shingles ceder front deck and louvered windows. All things being equal it took about two hours longer to build the dog house then it did the kennel.

Glad it all worked out for you. I always thought they were powered by the dead, foolish me.

This intrigued me too much. I've been after one of these since I saw a similar something demonstrated on a Eugene Burger DVD...

So I took the plunge and have just finished an online shop with Maplin.

I've devided to add a small lightbulb to the setup though. Imagine doing a completely dark seance, and the box isn't quite lightproof (or made of dark frosted glass)... Not only will it look quite eerie, the secondary effect will stop people wondering if you have a second buzzer hidden about your person.

Reminds me of early science lessons when I'd put together simple series circuits. I'm looking forward to this. :)

I had exactly the same idea! However I thought of replacing the buzzer with a small bulb. I would say that the light will come on when spectral activity is close! Probably try and get a red bulb too. Red light is what "trance mediums" use when being possesed by spirit and their face changes shape (allegedly).

But there's nothing like an electric buzzer to make people jump.
