My Apology to the Forum Moderators

Postby Gehenna » Sep 19th, '08, 22:31

Recently I posted a thread in relation to a Burlesque show I run, basically advertising it in this section for those interested. As it happens I had broken some rule of the Doves Head/Off Topic section of this forum and the thread was edited, locked and moved to The Sin Bin. I believe one of my mistakes was that the show did not have any magic in it. My assumption was to post it here because of that reason but I have obviously broken another rule. Such is life and I accept that I made the mistake.

Rather than go down the route of argueing/fighting with the forum admins/moderators and then skulking about bad mouthing the forum, something I have seen happen on Burlesque forums, I would prefer to make a public apology to all those I offended and state that I will not post any advert for any show I run that does not feature magic.

For me, this forum could be very useful. I am constantly on the look out for new and interesting acts to entertain my audience, magic has been one of the entertainment forms my audience has requested. I would much prefer to keep the peace and be able to find magicians easily for future shows. So whilst I'm here I'd be more than happy if any magicians local to Birmingham city contacted me for discussions on a possible appearence at a future show.

For some reason I imagine my apology will now end up in The Sin Bin - I wonder if I am being a little paranoid now! :?

I shouldn't think so and i think the main reason for it being binned was probably because we have some very young members, and there kids.

plus as you say it apeared to be an add not even related to magic, but I'm sure a mod will be along soon to give you and them right of reply, there generaly fair and impartial.

Spot on, as usual, on all counts Jason and as this thread is still open and in the Dove's Head, you can draw your own conclusions about whether it'll be moved anywhere - or not  !

Fair enough Mandrake.

If I do ever advertise a Burlesque event featuring magic then I shall not put up the artwork and I will only link to the shows MySpace page which is very vanilla, thus younger members of his forum will be very unlikely to be faced with anything their parents may be worried about.

I'm not a big fan of Al Murray but I watched him last night for the Dita interview - had me in fit of laughter.

I watched the show last night and Dita went down a little in my estimation having seen and heard her on TV for the first time.

She looked very uncomfortable to me to the point where I thought that she began to come across as a bit arrogant.

If I'm honest with you I'm not a big fan of Dita von Teese, I don't find her that entertaining.

Quote on ITV Teletext 'Showbiz Spy' today:
Dita's Holiday with Amy

Dita Von Teese, the burlesque dancer and model, has never got over the time Amy Winehouse entertained her.

"She sang and played guitar for two hours for me, my mother and sisters," Dita tells me. "She is our era's Billie Holiday." But she sees a dark future.

"Unfortunately, it seems that she's following in Billie's footsteps with genuine angst." Amy will be pleased.

She must have felt like she was on holiday with the female version of her ex-husband Marilyn Manson.
