Now I agree with magicwand.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Disgustingly, my five are artists that most people will have heard of - how pathetic and unTMcool am I ?

Current top five artists and my favourite tracks of theirs:

The Feeling - Love it When You Call
Eminem - Whatever You Say I Am
Oasis - Whatever
The Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man
Pink Floyd - Time

Muse- Knights of Cydonia (Black Holes & Revelations)
Zico Chain- Where Would You Rather Be? (Food)
Biffy Clyro- Glitter and Trauma (Infinity Land)
We Are The Physics- Less Than Three (We Are The Physics Are OK At Music)

And the fifth one changes regularly. At the moment it's:
Stone Gods- Don't Drink The Water (Silver Spoons and Broken Bones)

I can enjoy a song for years and never bother to find out which singer or band recorded it. It's just not important.

Having said that, I take particular notice of:
REM
Blondie
Supertramp
ELO

No particularly favourite songs. That changes with mood, anyway.

I'm not a musical person. I enjoy listening to songs, but mostly for the lyrics, not the tune. I could never just sit and listen to music without doing something else -- there's not enough in music to capture my full attention.

My favourite songs used to come from the '70s, but now I find I'm leaning more toward '80s stuff, which I never paid attention to during the '80s. I also have a soft spot for old-fashioned music hall comedy songs. Will tolerate most other music, except for jazz and country/western, which I LOATHE. Also don't have much time for anything in the area of rap, hip-hop, or similar.

My Friends band is really good, if i can find some of their stuff I'll post it, keep in mind they're only 14-16 but they still manage to kick butt.

I can sit there entranced listening to music. And you'd be surprised how good some of the instrumental music out there is, for example bands like Mogwai, The Cancer Conspiracy, 65daysofstatic and Battles.

If you like that type listen to: The sound of animals fighting.

They have such a unique style and they have great instruments along with singing.

I realise other people enjoy music far more than I do, and all the best to them. It's just not in my makeup; I'm strongly word- and vision-orientated.

As far as instrumental music goes, I'll take classical every time, Bach and Mozart especially -- but only if I can do something else while I listen. I've never heard of any of the bands you mentioned, but must admit their names don't sound very promising.

As far as instrumental music you can't beat a bit of space age guitar such as Joe Satriani. If you're into dinner jazz, then THE most sublime and beautiful track has to be "Blue" by Patricia Barber - check it out, download it, it is the BEST track with just vocals, piano and guitar, and has gorgeous, suave lyrics ("if I was blue, a pale Picasso blue"). I'm also a massive fan of breakcore: Venetian Snare's "Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett", which combines beautiful arrangements with the chaotic sound of splinters ripping your speakers, like Aphex Twin on ketamine. "Hajnal" is the craziest song on that album. Am currently going through a dubstep penchant, but Led Zeppelin and Radiohead are my top faves of all time. Can't beat a bit of Prodigy tho!
