Magic Around School

Enjoy. Comments and suggestions are welcome! And yes, I am aware I speak at an unimaginable speed. I'm still working on slowing down my presentations.

You are manipulating cards, coins etc;. All very well but you must learn to manipulate the PEOPLE.

Also you are presenting magic. Wrong. You should present YOURSELF doing magic.

If you can figure out what I mean in the above two paragraphs you will be making progress. If you can't don't worry. 90% of "magicians" haven't figured it out either.

I believe I know what you mean... The presentations must reflect not only my performance style, but myself as a person. I should also work on audience interaction and using subtleties and presentational bits to improve the magical experience. Am I at least on the right track?

As nice as the tricks were, I can't help think how weird it is for a schoolchild to carry a wallet around with him with credit cards. Maybe it's a culture thing though, since I'm not from Canada (looks like Mark Lewis was right, it didn't take long for the anti-canada comments to start ;))

In Canada, it's not uncommon at all :).

Whilst it might be unusual for those under 16 to have credit cards in a wallet, it's probably quite reasonable for them to have membership cards, travel discount cards, bus passes and other similar sized items. I thought the production and use of the wallet was quite normal! The sound quality wasn't the best of course but other than that very minor point, I rather enjoyed that medley of effects - thanks!

Thank you Mandrake, glad you enjoyed it.... Actually, the Card in Wallet effect was by Shawn Farquhar. It's not gimmicked but you needed a specific type of Credit Card Booklets to do it. So I bought one from him and he threw in a gag American Express Card that has a "your name here" gag included. The first card is just my bank card and the third is a gag gift card I got in a birthday card recently.

There's a potential comedy angle here as well. "At the moment I don't have credit cards but I've already got the wallet and it has lots of spaces for 'em!"

Very good Michael. I remember when Shawn was just working out the kinks in that card to wallet. You did it justice. I think if you take the advice given to heart you will be really good, the mechanics are there its all presentation now. Good job.

PS you are not at the Westmount High in Montreal are you?

Wow, thank you very much... the card to wallet is a fairly recent addition to my repertoire and I'm still working on finding the best possible presentation.

And no, the Westmount School I attend is in Hamilton, Ontario.

Nice, a friend of mine lived in Hamilton but it was some time ago. She is in Vancouver now. Romain is out in Kitchner and attends the club meetings regularly or at least he did. If you can get there you should drop in on one of the club meetings.

I didn't think it was to fast either, except for the beginning trick but otherwise that was rather good. (Not that that means much coming from me)

I thought the music in the background was a little overkill going along with the background noise of school.

Nice Job!

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.
