Postby magicmonkey » Sep 26th, '08, 18:04

Well, it's taken me about 30 years but I've finally solved the old Rubik's cube!

All it took was a little magic...

Wow it takes me years and years to solve them...

Did you make that?

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Although hard to solve, there are very systematic ways to do rubik's cube which anyone can learn and once done, with a little practice, anyone could do one in no time.

Bingo that!

It's actually not that difficult to solve a Rubik's Cube. All you have to do is memorise a series of moves and know when to apply them. I suspect anyone with the inclination to put some time into learning these moves, could learn to solve the Cube. Basically, it's just memory work and can be solved within a couple of minutes once learned.

And yes, I know speed cubists can solve it in seconds, but I'm not that good so it takes me two minutes or so.

That was my point.
In fact, these days they come with instructions on how to solve it and what those series of moves are.

Incidentally, the magic effect where you get a Rubik's Cube and instantly and visually solve it in 3 seconds is available on www.elliemaes.co.uk for £4.99 plus postage. Can't comment as to what the site is like as I've never bought anything off there, sbut the Rubik's effect looks really cheap. Judging from the other products this site seems to do cheap products of well known effects.

The posted video was really soothing by the way: it'd make a great screensaver.

Ah, I should have gone out tonight...
