Even in the states, these coins are old enough so that most folks have not seen them before. I don't think familiarity with a particular coin matters. Spectators know what a coin is. As long as everything is carefully shown and explained, all is well.

Silver dollars are nice for a few reasons. They look nice, and since they are large, they show very well. The pure silver makes them ring like a bell when you flip them. If you get old worn ones, you can do routines that require "soft" coins.

Other coins can work just as well!

Morgan dollars look like those large tinfoil covered chocolate coins that you hand on the Christmas tree.

If that doesn't make them look suspicious then nothing else will

I went into my bank a week or 2 back to get some half-dollar coins. The teller did do a double-take when I asked for them, atlhough that would've been all to funny had she asked me what they were.

I don't anticipate much luck with the Morgan dollar. I think the Eisenhower dollar alone might be a stretch - it's about the same diameter, although that hasn't been produced in ages, either....

Half-dollars have always been rare in the US. Most people don't recognise them immediately.

Silver dollars haven't been used as currency for about a century. Most people have heard of the term "silver dollar", but only coin collectors will recognise them.
