WHERE can i get strong magic

Postby DESmond TINY » Oct 7th, '08, 22:21

I have been recommended strong magic by Darwin Ortiz by many people.

I can't find it anywhere. I know it went out of print but I heard it came back into print. So if any of you kind people would mind helping out it would be very grateful.

Also I live in the UK so English money would be very helpful ^^

If you type "strong magic" and "darwin ortiz" into Google (with quotes as shown, and searching in the UK) you will find these on the first page of hits:

http://www.magicshop.co.uk/p2366/Strong ... _info.html

http://www.worldmagicshop.co.uk/strong- ... -1169.html

Also, Magic Books by Post and World of Magic seem to have it available.

You said that you can't find it anywhere. You have been looking in magic shops, right?

CHEERS!!!

I haven't got any magic shops near me so all i've got is the internet and apparently I'm not very good at searching for stuff on that

Anyway thanks very much for the help.

I'm assuming you've read the book. If so then what did you think of it???

You'd assume wrong. :)

I am (apparently) a bit of a search whiz, so thought I'd help you. I can even get the search engine here to work (sometimes).

In fact, it found this for me (by which I mean "for you"):

You might also want to keep an eye on eBay as well. I nearly snagged a copy of Strange Magic on there, but it went over my limit at the time.

Strong Magic

Postby Card Detective » Oct 8th, '08, 17:33

If you are interested in the performance of magic this is one of the best books you will ever read. No tricks but all good stuff.
If you also want magic thrown in you will definately enjoy The Experience of Magic by Eugene Burger. But anything of his is worth what you pay for it.

Strong Magic is the best book of magic I own. It's improved my magic greatly (I hope) and is essentially saying, in a lot of it:

"Practice so that you will entertain laymen, and not impress magicians."

I think this advice is really important, and a lot of everyone's favorite magicians just don't pay attention to this. So yes, Strong Magic is basically a great book, and you can find it most places online.

yeah i've heard good things of this book and now you've made me completely sure that I want to buy it now.

Now if only Derren brown would put his books back into print . . . if only. ^_^

Let me throw caution to the wind as I do not wish to put you off. You will not learn any tricks in this book. It is a long read but full of magic in that it deals with the presentation of close up magic. Eugene Burger has great books on the subject which may not be as heavy in that he illustrates the points he makes with examples of how he has applied those principles to the performance of his own effects.

While you're shopping get hold of Designing Miracles by the same author. It's a great companion/sequel and will get you thinking about why and how magic really works.

Read the whole thread please, the very first reply gave a magicshop link.
