''Voodoo Mentalism type routine'' can't find it -PLEASE HELP

Postby ONIONS65 » Oct 10th, '08, 17:09

Can someone tell me the name of the effect where the magician draws an outline of a human body and then makes a secret mark on it with a pencil.

The he asks the spectator to touch an area of his body

And then it turns out that the area the spectator touched was predicted by the mark the magician made in exactly the same place on the drawing.

Have been looking for this for some time now.

Please help

thanks

Dan

I don't know the name of the effect you described, but this is something that can be done with a swami gimmick. Hope that helps.

And Marc Spelmann has done a similar routine - The Afflicted - I think.

Actually, for the effect as described, I think Replicant got it right first time. The Spackman 'Voodoo' effect is similar, as is 'The Afflicted', but not quite the same as the original poster wanted.

'Dead of Night' is a card spelling trick. His 'The Dead Zone' is maybe a little closer, but still not really the same sort of effect.

I'll throw in another one, which is the voodoo doll effect described in Eugene Burger's 'Spirit Theater' (sorry, can't recall the name of the trick itself). I think Eddie Burke sells a version of that.

Isn't there something similar in Corinda's 13 Steps using a magazine page? A body outline is drawn, a point is marked. The page is then burnt only to reappear back in the magazine at the end. (Or something. It's been a while.)
