Four Card Exchange

Postby HenryHoudini » Oct 12th, '08, 17:10

I've got a routine where I end up with four aces, and I want to exchange them for four indifferent cards to finish off the routine. I'd love to know if there's any book or DVD or anything with this sort of thing in it (I'm sure there's something in the Tarbell Course, which I have all 8 volumes of, just in case you know of something in there.)

Thanks.

you could get a break under the top 4 cards and do a top change with packets.

If you're able to retain topstock during the routine you could have four indifferent cards face up followed by a DB on the top of the deck - place the four aces face up on the deck, turn over all nine cards as four and immediately deal the apparent four aces face down again.

And to queen of clubs, unfortunately, I can't retain topstock. The routine involves a lot of cutting.

This may or may not be of use to you...

He switches the four Jacks for four Aces at the end of the effect. Perhaps you can use it.

How about Chris Kenner's 4for4 switch?

Can be found in his book "Totally Out Of Control" or as an instant download from here.

I actually learnt it from one of the tricks on Dan and Dave Buck's Trilogy.

Beat me to it. Honestly, you should look no further, that is the switch you're looking for.

Thanks, I think I knew that one at one point, a friend taught me at magic camp, but I just forgot it.

It's also an option for you to use Marlo's Drop Switch but with 4 cards being exchanged for 4 rather than 1 for 1. You could execute the switch as you square the Aces against the deck/your hand?

Just a thought.

If you have the Card College series, to save you spending more for the 4for4 switch, there is a very similar switch which I think is in Volume 4 called the Toss Switch. It's not exactly the same, but very similar.

I did know the 4for4, as I said a friend taught me at magic camp. (After spending what you spend for that camp, you're entitled to being taught a few things without spending.)
