Name For A Music/Magic Duo

Postby crozboz » Oct 15th, '08, 10:13

I need help finding a name for a musical magical duo that a friend of mine and I have started up.

He plays piano, I do magic (and sing if they cant stop me) and we go around the old folks homes etc. providing light entertainment for the old folks (for free - I might add).

I do my stage mentalism act, which includes no cards at all. We were thinking of something like - "Cards & Chords" - but since the act contains no cards - this didnt seem to make sense.

Any ideas? You lot were plenty helpful when it came to finding a name for my goldfish! Any more ideas?

All the best,
Croz

Mentalism in old folks' homes? Well, good luck with that. :D When I worked the old folks' homes (£10 a shot I charged, heartless beast the I am) I had all on getting them to wake up long enough to register I was there. Balloon modelling was always popular and the zombie ball made them smile. Mentalism? Not sure. The sing-song they'll love. Be prepared to listen to "Roll Out The Barrel" til you want to eat your hands.

Good luck anyway. How about "Music & Magic". Or "Magic & Music". Or "Music, Magic & Moonlight". Or "Enchanted Music". Or...well, anything obvious and cheesey would hit the spot. No need to be too clever.

Let us know how you get on. :D

We've done it a few times in the past, and its always gone down well - no Nile Divinations, or anything that has to make them think. It's got a touch of comedy, and the music is all stuff they remember.

Serenades & Subterfuge. I like it - but I dont think anyone else will get it.

Grand Illusions. ?

Piano Thoughte` ?

pick a chord. ( i like that one )

chord tricks.. ( another favorite, and quite memorable)

actually" chord tricks", is the one you should use, because it reffers to the music, and the magic, in a cardy kind of way, but doesnt actually mention cards. Its a pun. which makes the act sound fun.

what you then have to do, is create bill matter, to explain what the act is.
Bill matter is a bit old fasioned, but it shouldnt be. In music hall days it was often something like..

" a smile and a song from our own cockney char"

D

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Much inspired by the previous posts, you could lift "The Piano Trick" from RRTCM as a Ronson seal does-what-it-says-on-the tin style of artist name...

Pick A Chord as suggested by daleshrimpton above is genious!
