Did Tinkerbell actually talk in the film or the book?

She did talk but too fast for normal people to hear.
She was also very rude, from being a common fairy.
Her name means
Tinker- as in worker of pots pans and kettles.
Bell- she had 'a plump hourglass figure'.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.
