Fancy Dress

Postby Chris » Oct 29th, '08, 10:45

Ok so a company that Ive just started working for have asked me to do a gig on Friday...Its a fancy dress however? and I usualy theme myself anyway, but with it being halloween....I was thinking the joker from Batman but the outfits £50 wot can I go as that goin to give me enough jacket pocket space for my effects and be flexible to perform in?

my other option is my jedi cloak? but again i feel to cumbersome?

Cheers

Fancy dress? What are you, a performing monkey? If they want a clown there's plenty in the Yellow Pages. Tell them you're a professional magician not a Butlins blue coat. Stand your ground mate or they'll be having you in a red nose and whacky wig in no time.

go as a voodoo man (white and black face paints) stick on a bowler hat or another type and you can weat your normal suit.

I kind of agree though, just go in your usual suit and tell them you came as a magician, maybe tux it up and call your self bond?

What about going as the old victorian magician with the full works,

Cane, top, hat, tails, pocket watch ect, may be a bit expensive but it still provides that mystical halloween look yet you still look like a magician and have plenty of pocket space?

I have used this before and it looks and feels cool.

Of course, you would need the persona to go with it. When my school did faux elocution lessons for those applying to Oxbridge, there were instuctions to simply say "ears" in lieu of "yes", and litter "quite, quite" about your sentences. I'd imagine that's what the magician in top hat and tails would speak like - as well as going round planting gentlemanly kisses on the backs of ladies' hands in meeting and greeting. You could then do a wrist watch steel and go into Victorian street urchin mode.
