Hello Again Everyone

Postby jbmagic » Nov 2nd, '08, 04:36

I just thought I say hello again to everyone, I ve been away for a quite some time with some personal issues, made redundant, girlfriend died, but hey ho life goes on....

Now feel ready to talk magic, (pun intended) LOL

In case you don't remember me, I am 53, been interested since very young about 9 or 10 yrs old, my grandfather made tricks and my father had an interest in card and cigarette magic. Bought my first magic book at 15 the RRTCM and joined my first magic club the Wessex Magical Association at 21, I left home to join the Royal Marines at 19 and my service career took me to Plymouth where I joined the Plymouth Magic Circle...served as President at one point....

Been a working professional since leaving the Marines in 1996, and I am currently a member of a few local magic clubs and the IBM. I am a great believer that magic is so vast that you can never stop learning....in fact I think if I studied 24/7, 365 days a year for all my life, I would go to my grave still not knowing everything.....

That said, I will hopefully try to contribute when I can, when work and other commitments permit and I will try to offer any advice and help when I can.....not that I know that much really..

My interests are mostly close-up and mentalism and I try to inject a little humour here and there If truth be known I am as mad as hatter really but in a nice way...LOL

Look forward to contributing when I can.

Jack

Hi Jack

Welcome back but so sorry to hear of your tragic news.

I'm still a member of the Wessex myself althought I don't get down there that often these days.

Hi Dat,

Many thanks for your welcome, oh that all happened a few years ago, but life as they say moves on...looking back it's hard to believe it's been that long since I was last on here....

On a more lighter note...is Joan and Alan Wright still members of the Wessex? What about Phil Hare? I haven't seen those guys for quite a few years. I am wondering how many other guys that are still members I would remember or would remember me..which is more to the point.

Did you know that Marc Paul was a member of the Wessex for quite a few years...before he moved to London and became more well known.

Thanks again for your warm welcome

Jack

Joan and Alan are still members to the best of my knowledge but Ron Gilbert and John Williams both passed away earlier this year. I'm not sure about Phil Hare.

I knew that Marc Paul was a member and he lectured at the Wessex a couple of years ago and on the night was made an honoury life member. I was fortunate to be at the lecture and it was a good evening.

It may be that Phil has been ill as he wasn't in the best of health when I last saw him, nice know that Joan and Alan are still around but sad news about Ron and John....I get up that way every so often but maybe one of these days I will manage on a club night.

Where do they hold the meetings and what night, just incase I can arrange to visit sometime next year maybe?

Club nights are on the second Tuesday of each month in the community centre at Parkstone.

There's a map on their web site.
