This is my Life - John McDonald

Postby John McDonald » Feb 7th, '04, 14:08

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening.
My name is John McDonald thirtysomething. Fell in love with magic at the age of 12 watching the Paul Daniels Magicshow. (I miss that slot on Saturday nights!) Lets make a campaign to bring it back!!!!
I love magic as an art form and magicians who aspire to magic as an art form so my favourite magicians are Michael Vincent and Rene Lavand amongst many many others.
I love card magic and cups and balls and three card monte routines.
I regulary attend Blackpool and it is my yearly magical high point. I also bring half of my family to the Sunday Gala show!

I am a member of the Order of the Magi in Manchester and the Manchester Circle of Magicians whose secretary is Derek Lever. Also a member of IBM and Ring 25 and SAM.
I describe myself as a "keen amateur magician" and look forward to sharing my love of magic with others who use this messageboard.

Wishing you all many best wishes and if you have read up to this point -

THANK YOU

John :D

Welcome to the forum, i hope your stay with us is fun and informative

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

And a big Hi! from me as well!

It would be great if the Beeb could arrange repeats of Paul's shows (after all, they repeat just about everything else!) but there seems to be some kind of contractual problem in the way. I read (on another forum, sorry! ) last year that it would be far too difficult to negotiate repeat showings. I suspect it's more a case of sour grapes somewhere and, as with other shows like 'The Goodies' will take someone with a lot of clout and serious interest in magic to sort it out. This time last year the Beeb were saying that their forthcoming new magic series would be a much better programme to promote and watch rather than old repeats. That new series was their (one and only so far) Secrets Revealed thing and we all know how well that did!

Helllllllo from meeeeee.

Yeah I have to agree, it is a huge shame.
He has a huge talent and I would love to see them again with my new magi brain, you must be right on your theory as they aren't even shown on one of the many sky constant old repeat channels and it was once prime time stuff.
Shame isn't it.
