Be nice to know where you acquire Victorian clothes...I had a long chat with a vintage clothing supplier in the west end and she mentioned a place called Old Hat near Putney Bridge that may supply such things, but she was doubtful about the ready availability of Victorian clothes for purchase.

well, my tails..( see photo bellow) are victorian tails. they came from a dealer in canterbury many, many years ago.

The olny problem with wearing clothes from this period, is cleaning. As the shoulders are padded with horse hair, the lining silk, and teh coat it's self, a heavy wollen fabric it's a bit of a specialist job.
Incidently investigation on this coat shows that i am far from the first magician to wear them.
the lining of the sleeve has some very interesting holes in it.

I also have another frock coat, which came from an army surplus store. It was a navy coat, but with a few adaptations, its been a dead town cryer
at a couple of halloween things, and two pirates. one straight, one gay.

Chris, i am 6ft 2" - where would you get your victorian clobber?

Any photos would be good to see - of you i mean, not of random objects or similar.

Perhaps what Chris meant was "victorian style" clothes rather than actual vintage clothing? Then again there's every chance I'm wrong!

Nice photo Dale! Very fetching!

I managed to get a great Edwardian 'Gibson' suit off ebay, but as yet have not been able to dip into earlier period clothing....

All of my peformances are small and very impromptu to date, so for now it's street clothes.

I'd probably aim for a suit (or at least shirt & tie) for any corporate functions. Beyond that, I could probably pull off a Victorian-style type of appearance; as in the "The Prestige" (movie), if I've got the period right.
