I have to agree with dale here. When I first started out I had my knickers in a twist over it thinking it was the best thing I'd ever seen.
In truth, it's very rarely used well.
The best use of the move is when it's built up beforehand in your patter to make it seem impossible - for instance if you say:
"If I were to just find the card you're thinking of that would be mildly impressive, but what if I were to estimate its position in the deck? What if I were to estimate its position in the deck and cut directly to it? What if I were to cut directly to it one handed?! What if I were to estimate it's position, cut directly to it with one hand, and then make it somersault out of the deck and catch it in mid air?!"
Obviously you say this as though you're just going a bit nuts and the spec is like "Yeah, right... that would be mental" - and then you do the move.
