Postby bob1234556789 » Nov 22nd, '08, 20:24

I believe I have come up with a new magic trick.

From your video description: "NO long or short cards, NO pinky breaks, NO double lifts and NO false shuffles."

Where's the fun in that???!!!

I think you've got reinventing-the-wheel syndrome.

That's not the point I was trying to make. From the spectator's point of view all that happens is a card is selected, returned to the centre of the deck, and with a riffle is now on top. So no matter what mechanics or methods are used to acheive it, it's how it looks to the audience that defines it. Therefore you've not invented a trick, you've invented a new handling for what is one of the oldest effects in card magic.

If your method, which you claim is original, can be used for more than just having a selection appear on top then you might have something saleable, but if all it acheives is what can already be acheived using the basics of card handling then you're onto a loser. Either that or Ellusionist will buy it and make you a millionairre.

I can achieve the excact same result in a number of different ways. It's called an ambitious card routine.

Yes, I quite agree with the Queen of Clubs.

Those things you listed are quite irrelevant because they hardly affect what the spectator sees. I fail to see how it helps the effect.

I don't mean to put down the fair performance, but what you are performing looks like a pretty simple ACR. I'm afraid it isn't a new idea. Keep up the good card work though! :D

I thought it might of been a good trick for beginners. There are no sleights.

I can do it with an actual normal deck of cards. And I'm worse than a beginner at cards...

Haha! So cruel Mark, So cruel.

Yeah. Just remember not to claim you have a new trick 'till you're sure.

I've just re-watched the video and I see exactly how it is done. Since you're cheeky enough to be selling it at a massively inflated price I half want to post the method for free, but I'm in a good mood today and I don't want to get in trouble with Mr Mandrake.

Suffice it to say the card cannot be signed and the deck cannot be examined - which for something as simple as a rising selection makes it worthless in my opinion. I feel sorry for the two people (probably beginner kids with precious little pocket money anyway) who've bought this from you.

I suggest you invest your ill-gotten £30 profit on some card instructional material for yourself, too, since your handling is extremely poor even for an amateur nevermind someone marketing himself as a tutor! Stand in the corner for 10 minutes with the "D" hat on!
