last night i sat and watched a film called "Vatel".

This lavish spectacular set in 1671 france, tells the tale of Vatel, a gienius in presenting fireworks,and incredible tableux.

the behind the scenes stuff is of great interest to me, because it shows the mechanicals that take place in changing a whole garden, into a tropical oasis.From nowhere They produce full sized palm trees, bushes, people, life sized whales, and living flying angels.

Its stunning, and its repeated tonight on BBC4.

Seriously its a facinating film, and its very well acted by a stellar cast.
and a cracking script by Tom Stopard and Roland Joffe.

The related documentatry France On A Plate is also quite a well put together documentary and well worth a watch. It's quite witty in parts.
