Split Coin vs. Flipper - what do you think?!

Postby Farlsborough » Dec 10th, '08, 03:01

I'm sorry to create another of these "which shall I buy" threads, but... which shall I buy?!

I've seen some really cool work recently with a flipper and a shell. The shell is definitely on the list, and Tango have brought out a really sweet "pro" flipper with a proper edge to it which is very, very tempting.

But... I can't help but feel like a split coin would be more versatile than a flipper.

So, does anyone have any good or bad experience with either of the above, given that I don't think quality will be an issue with the flipper...? Any routines you can't really do or are really easy with one or the other?

Advice! Opinions! Anything! Please! :D

I like this. It is neither of what you asked for but they looked rather cool.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I had a flipper for a while and I found it a bu**er to work with. All the bands in the pack rot at the same time so once one goes weak they are all in danger. And it's not really something with a fast and invisible reset. Shells are more versatile for sure

I would get a split coin, nothing to break!

Cheers for your thoughts guys - I've actually just unexpectedly sold a piece of magic so the dilemma is over - I've ordered both! :D
