What's Santa Got In Store For You?

Postby Lenoir » Dec 15th, '08, 10:59

Here we are folks, list three magical items, and three non-magical items that you would really really really like for Christmas! Be realistic, you never know, you're spouses/stalkers might have a look on here!

Magic related:
1.)As many decks of Tally-Hos as possible
2.)Annotated Erdnase - Darwin Ortiz
3.)Mind Power Deck - John Kennedy

Non-Magic related:
1.)New earphones
2.)Stephen Fry's autobiography
3.)In fact, a new iPod. I dropped mine yesterday and it froze:(

My main present is going to be that telescope that's in the back room. My favourite remainder bookseller (Bibliophile) was selling Philips' Stargazing with a Telescope, so I bought a copy of that to go nicely with it.

I'm expecting an order from World Magic Shop, and will save that to open at Christmas too. I've half-forgotten what I ordered, so it will be kind of a surprise.

We also have a box sitting here from Grab It Now -- their "20 stocking fillers for 20 pounds" deal from last week -- and we're saving that to be our joint Christmas morning "stocking". We'll divide the spoils between us, and any that are completely unsuitable can go to neighbours or the charity shop. I know a dog toy is included, and although I enjoy playing with toys, I do draw the line at squeaky Santas.

My present to Colin is quite a big box of assorted fossils, which he should be thrilled with. I bought it early in the year (not because I'm organised, but because it was on sale) and I can't remember what's in it now. I know there's a good handful of shark teeth, a chip of dinosaur bone, and a trilobite, for starters. Almost certainly an ammonite as well, and I think a small fish.

Magic related, I see that someone's bought me the Disecto Arm Chopper and a rope trick from my Amazon UK Wishlist (No-one went for the straight jacket, oddly). My mother (that knows that buying me a cheap magic set to join the multitude of others I have been given over the years is suicide) has asked me directly for what I want. I suggested a Chop Cup, Ninja Rings, an ID, assorted DVDs and a bullet catch.

Outside from those plausible guesses and outside of magic, I wouldn't mind a Flip video camera, a really tiny projector, PC games, DVDs...

I'm waiting for a Boffer BOC too... weird that it still hasn't been sent yet...

Marginally off topic. I've got my first Christmas card of this year... An addressed one from MagicTricks.co.uk - I didn't know there was a real name like "Keelan"...

If I'm a good girl, hopefully Father Christmas will be getting me

a nice billet knife and an impression pad for magical uses.

For the non magical side of things, a new running top and leggings and set of hair wavers. There's also been a very big box delivered that he's acting very coy about.

I've not asked for much this Christmas (or any other Christmas, for that matter). Just a very nice Tarot deck and its companion book. That's it. I'm more a birthday present person, to be honest. Personal anniversaries mean so much more than Christmas, Easter, etc. where people just feel pressured to go a bit mad on presents. Christmas doesn't mean a great deal to me anymore. Good for the kids, but that's about it.

I haven't bought anything from Boffer, but from various descriptions I'm not very keen on trying them. They seem to run a sort of tease and then sell out of stuff fast, which isn't good service in my book. Not a fan of their "wacky" descriptions either.

Grab It Now is very straightforward, and you get a daily e-mail telling you what the day's offer is, so you can decide whether to bother taking a look.

On the 17th they're going to offer "20 things for £10", so that might be worth a peek!

I'm hoping for Director's cut, and Prism are really the only two books that I want.

Non-magic: The prestige (book), Lover, The lord has left us (Cd), and new headphones.
