Asian magic supply stores

I'm not positive this is the right place to post this. Mods, feel free to move if you deem it in the wrong place.

Hi all,

Can anyone suggest shops where I can buy magic supplies in Korea? A few years ago, a Korean friend of mine called a magic school (they have schools for everything over here) to find out where I could buy some supplies because I was going to be on a TV show and thought that I could use a dove pan. The owner of the school refused to tell her anything. She said he was worried that I just wanted to find out how tricks were done. Forget about the fact that I specifically asked about a dove pan, which indicates some prior knowlege about magic. My friend basically said he didn't want to share the monopoly he had on magic. Silly.

I have been buying from on-line distributors, but sometimes I just want to actually see and touch the things I'm buying before I lay out the cash.

So if anyone knows about a shop in Seoul or Bangkok (I'm going there for a month in January), I'd appreciate a heads up.

Thanks!

Man-oh-man!

Kamsahamnida and Kapungkrap! (Thank you in Korean and Thai.)

I'll check out the Seoul shop this week.

A warning - I spent a fruitless and frustrating afternoon in Bangkok trying to track down a magic shop I'd found the address for on the internet.

You will however encounter men selling and demonstrating gimmicky tricks on the side of some of the main streets. A few of these effects are actually not bad - I got a coin into lightbulb and a lightening box (coin into rubberbanded nesting boxes) for very little. The downside is, if anyone's been to Thailand on holiday, they may well have bought one too...!
