Well I quit smoking about 4 months ago completely unaided, I'm practically tee total these day's because of the kids another habit kicked last year unaided so I might have a break this year although I would like to start going to the gym so I may decide to do that. Anyway's happy new year to you all.

I've started keeping a proper diary. Recording each day's mood, moping level, and any thoughts or observations - like the chap cycling past me with a Union flag held in jousting pose for some reason the other day, or last night starting to read The Alchemical Tools and literally effervescing with ideas.

Also, 2009 is the year that an inch becomes a mile.

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

Last Year's Resolution: To buy only 1 Domino's Pizza a month, as I was noticing that the credit card bills had close to £100 of orders each statement.
Result - Success (Didn't go over the limit of 1 per month at all, and as for this month I can only fail if I order one tonight, unlikely as there's a New Year's party that I'm going to be at)
This Year's Resolutions: To try and take my hobbies (Blogging and Random Acts of Trickery) more seriously, and to try and get out of working in the callcenter and into something that I actually like doing.

Last Year's Calendar - Freebie fold-out year planner from Edge magazine, sporting imagery from Super Mario Galaxy (wii)
This Year's Calendar - FHM UK 2009... or the Edge one for this year, which if I remember correctly has lots of images from a Nintendo game involving puppies...

And a splendiferous new year to you, taffy, old boy.

I am not going to make any resolutions because I never stick to them, anyway. But I do need to lose a bit of weight. And spend less on impulse purchases.

And try and spend less time surfing aimlessly on the internet, eyes glazed over, bloodshot and unblinking.

Oh, and I must sort out the leaking guttering. Must do that soon; been putting it off all year and the wife is on the warpath again.

On second thoughts, that's a summer job, isn't it? Best leave it for finer weather conditions, methinks. Yes, summer it is.

Definitely this summer.

Definitely probably.

And a Merry New Year to you too.

My resolution in magic is to finally finish Naked Mentalism III.

My resolution outside magic is to, well, that would be telling...

I stuck to last year's and it worked out just fine.

I always follow the superstition that says whatever you do on New Year's Day, you'll do for the rest of the year. So it follows that if there's anything you particularly want to do all year, make sure to do at least a token amount today.

Be sure to eat something today that swells or expands during cooking, to ensure prosperity throughout the coming year.

Well, having quit smoking three weeks ago, I consider myself pretty ahead of the game :D

Guess I'll have to take up running again...

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Resolution: To pay off my credit card. Oh boy that'd be a sweet, sweet day.

Also, to change jobs. Work makes me more miserable than it ever has before and im worth much more than my employer can even imagine.

Also, to stop moaning about what i havent got and appreciate what i have.

Also, to master the Clip Shift. Not because i want to use it in any effects, but because im pi**ed that the imagicians can do it and i can't. Oh, and add the Pressure Fan to that too.

Also, to not worry about what the imagicians are doing and get on with my own routines which really needs some attention.

My New Year's eve partying was such a pleasant non-event that I don't feel compelled to mark it with resolutions, but I am going to try and do well in my finals and lose a bit of weight.

I'd also like to keep last year's resolution going (an akumulator, if you will) about being able to entertain solidly with minimum props. I think I'm getting there - my recent visit to Manchester was a good boost to my confidence that I can do quite a few things with just a deck of cards, so I'd like to keep that impetus, extend my repertoire etc.

Infact, I'll be active and start a thread on the subject...

I don't make new year resolutions. However, I do make resolutions! I recently made a couple that coincided with new year (just a coincidence - honest guvnor!): not to drink any alcohol - this is not a blanket ban, I might have the odd drink if it is appropriate but I don't want to be getting drunk; to meditate everyday.

As they're not actually new year resolutions it doesn't matter if I don't stick to them!

Greetings one and all and please pardon my tardiness on this thread...

My resolutions are quite simple; lose no less than 30 pounds between now and the end of May and to get no fewer than two of my effects on the market. The latter actually being an obtainable goal this year, in that I've been negotiating with a reputable builder for most of this past year... let's just say making that happen is more likely than my loosing all the weight :o

I do hope everyone had a great holiday season and that 2009 proves to be a wondrous and prosperous year for one and all.

BTW... numerologically speaking; this is an 11 year -- that's a Master Number that will hold particular influence on women and those born under the sign of Scorpio. Silver being the color & metal of this vibration while the JUSTICE card of the major Arcanum lends greatest influence in and around things; including our personal as well as national sense of karmic obligation. On many levels you could call this a time of reckoning or "Judgment" but not in the biblical sense; more like self-introspection and re-evaluating our priorities, especially when it comes to humanitarianism and acts of selflessness vs. self-serving.

Independence and Leadership are two of the more important energies for this harmonic, coupled with much needed accent of intellect and intuition i.e. to be open enough to "listen" to one's inner voice or "gut feelings"; trusting such things when it comes to taking action and making decisions.

This will prove to be a high energy year filled with intensity as well as a very strong demand for communication -- not legal jargon or semantically splitting hairs, but rather clear and concise "every man's" language of discussion and the sort of honest debate that brings about a greater good.

The secondary color allied with the 11 and more specifically Scorpio, is Brown, symbolizing the earth as well as humanity. The 11 vibration being very much connected to the ideas of humanitarianism but more within the community or family vs. the larger global state. For this reason I'd say that one course of encouragement or working with this harmonic, centers on local volunteerism as well as social-political activism when it comes to issues of fairness and general human rights.

Many folks find it difficult to live up to the demands of a Master Number like 11 therefore we must reduce it down to it's single digit harmonic of 2; the color of Orange and the idea of balance and diplomacy. A careful comparison of the higher 11 harmonic with the 2 will allow you to see similarities while likewise discovering a more obtainable and down to earth state of comfort via the two, which is ruled by the High Priestess of the Tarot and influences mainly through the Aquarian energy of the zodiac; a connection that is most important at this point in time.
