You know what Queen of Clubs, I never thought of that. I have seen the content of the DVD and as you say, it is beginner. I have absolutely no idea why I entered seeing as I consider myself as rather efficient with cards, AND have a brilliant mentor. I guess the idea of a competition got my juices flowing

I withdraw my entry. :P

I've never played with cards so much so I'm sure there'll be a couple of things I'll pick up.

I'll have the 7 of diamonds please! (If I win, can I have the cards? I don't have the DVD but I think the cards would be cooler :P)

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Hmmm...

I think I might withdraw mine as well

Guess I got overexcited...

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

I am rather superb with a deck of cards.

However, i shall enter, so i may snap the disc and hear the cry of an amateur echo throughout the universe.

I'll have whatever card the next person gives me. Thank you.

Well I just like competition, so- even though I consider myself prety nifty with the ol' pasteboards- I think I'll stay in- you can't turn your nose up at an offer of some free decks and a DVD can you ;)

James, 19, Lifelong student of magic and will carry on learning for the rest of my days if I'm a very lucky boy.

Well, I don't want to say in public, but I have taken my chosen card, turned it over and placed it back in the pack. It is now the only face down card in this deck I have here on my desk...

No?

Jack of Spades, then.

Sounds like fun... my prediction is...The King of Spades...

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I can think of a number of reasons, includiing but not limited to:

Magicians (usually) have something of an ego, thus it's not the taking part or the prize, it's the winning that counts.

Magicians (usually) suffer from CUPS, spending their money all the time, thus a couple of free decks is not to be sniffed at, I'll wager that most of the entrants who are above the level of the first prize are actually hoping to win second prize

The Ace of Hearts, since it doesn't appear to be named, yet.

If it has, then the King of Hearts.

cheers,

Five of hearts still available? If not, simply slot me any card that is open.
