There is plenty of reasons but the main reason being for me is that I learnt my card work from different sources e.g expert at the card table, royal road among a few others but the point is that it would be a valuble resource dvd to go back to, also it gives you the moves from a different persons angle/perspective (we are not all robots people explain it differently with different subleties and so on) Also that's what makes cardmen an expert by studying different sources of the same move to adapt and apply the different subtletys explained by different people to make the move truly your own as oppossed to if you only study one persons work you only have there view on the subject/sleight or whatever it may be. Another reason for me is I don't have any of OZ work and I missed is lecture last year due to being away and would really like to see his work, so I think that is more than enough reason for any beginer, skilled hobbyist or expert card handler to enter.

That's a good enough reason for me. Tell you what, can I have the Queen of Clubs and if I win please send the DVD to lindz?

That is indeed very nice Queen I'm glad you understood it the right way, the only problem I have accepting the offer is that I already have a card down and it could be viewed unfair as I would effectively have 2 chances.

In case anyone is interested, here is how I will go about choosing the cards:

After I have thoroughly shuffled the deck and ribbon spread it on the table, I will ask my assistant (my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter) to select any two cards.

(I did plan on asking her to do the shuffling too, but she'll only end up getting distracted and probably go into a series of Faro shuffles or something. Little show off).

Technically true. However, if Kate should win the DVD then she, like anyone else who wins it, is entitled to do with it what she will. And according to the rules which I set down myself, she has made at least fifty posts and is therefore entitled to a choice of card from those still available. Besides, she could have PM'ed me on the sly and you'd have all been none the wiser, but she didn't.

Basically, I don't have a problem with it but if you decide not to accept, then that is obviously OK, too.

Yeah, but think about it this way. I could claim my card for myself, receive the DVD from Replicant, and then choose to give it to whoever I want rather than keep it. So to save on two postages, I'll just let Replicant send it to you direct if I win.

Of course, the chances of Q of C being drawn are slim, but it would be cool.

No slimmer than the chance of any other card being drawn.

Well how are you going to shuffle, and are you going to shuffle from a fresh deck? Because I'm really interested in shuffle-tracking. I suggest to make it totally fair you do a dealer shuffle where they spread all the cards out and mix them with washing motions of the hands on the table - much harder to track than a few overhands and a few faros.

See my post above. A dealer shuffle sounds good, though; I may use that instead of my usual shuffling technique. I could break out a fresh deck I guess. Lord knows I have enough of them.

Ok if that's how the rules stand then I shall gracefully accept.

I bagsy the 9 of Spades, if you would be so kind... (quickly checks to see if reached 50 posts).

On a side note, do you have one of those cheap mechanical shufflers that you find in the "cheap gift" section of the Argos catalogue? Using one of those should allow for a slightly random element to shuffling, if human shuffling is being seen as too suspect. I'm sure you must have one lying around the house, thanks to a relative thinking that it would save you "all that unnecessary shuffling"... (I had two of them at one point.)
