Magic Art

Postby jhmagic1 » Jan 15th, '09, 00:59

Ive been into magic for 15 years and want to combine it with my other interest, graphic design.

I am 24 and living in the U.K. and have done a graphic design course. One of my hobbies is designing DVD and Packaging for tricks. Is anyone else into this? or know anyone who needs any designs doing, or have any advice for me? :)

So are you looking to combine graphic design and magic?

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Oh. I understand now.

Actually many of the members on the board are graphic designers... I was surprised by the amount of people who were.

I am a Graphic Designer and lay-out books, covers, ads and those kind of things each day.

It also amazed me how many magicians play instruments. I'm also in a band, play the keyboards.

I play the Drums and work in IT, another common source from what I've seen.

Heh,

I play whatever instuments I can get my hands on (badly)
I work in IT as a systems admin (cheaply)
I studied Physics at Uni (poorly)
I write stuff (laughably)

Oh yeah, and all this magic rubbish (see above)

...

Oh yeah, bleedin' polymath, me... :(

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

Just to balance out, I'm not very interested in music and couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.

But I do have a diploma in cartooning and commercial art, and a bit of graphic design to combine with the editing.

Presumably magic attracts creative people. Or nutters, as they're generally known hereabouts.

There's a Romany phrase that belongs here:

"Jekh dilo kerel but dile hai but dile keren dilimata"

(One madman makes many madmen, and many madmen make madness)

Which I think makes Talkmagic the equivalent of a lunatic asylum built on the ninth circle of hell, considering the above.

I design websites, but I can't draw

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong...

As an Illegal Arms Dealer, white slave trader, and talented Stylophone player, magic seemed a natural outlet for my creative skills...
