Ey up from Yorkshire!

Postby travisgray » Jan 16th, '09, 02:49

Hey my names Tom, I'm 19 and I live in yorkshire, england.
I was really into magic when I was younger and having had my passion for it rekindled recently I've started practicing in the mirror with coin and card tricks as I figure this is probably the basics!
I'm also fascinated in showman ship having been in various theatre groups and such, so the idea of distraction and leading an audience or spectator into what you want them to believe is amazing to me.

I was hoping to find like minded people on this forum that I could discuss this stuff with and get reccomendations for reading and such as I figure thats the best way to learn. :)

All the best guys.
Tom

Hiya, welcome to TM :D

Mark Wilson's Complete Course is another great book for getting you started. It covers quite a few different areas of magic.

Well as well as the stuff above I'm going to suggest some of Jay Sankeys stuff. Strong but easy to learn, also the 40 ways to force a card DVD is great and I think everyone should have this in their collection, magicians, mentalists and bizarrists alike. And if you're looking at ambitious card Darrlys is a really nice routine.

I'll second that. Daryl's DVD is where I started in magic (along with the royal road) and I'll be using the stuff on that DVD forever I imagine.

Welcome aboard the TM train. As a yorkshire lad get over to this thread http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic18823-1080.php and join us in Leeds one month.

nice to meet a bunch of freindly folks. :) Youre from skipton Mark? I'm well close to you I live in Silsden!

It'd be great to come to some lectures at the bradford magic circle, my interest in magic has only really recently become rekindled so I had no idea there even was one. or was that the illusion?

Also that Daryl ambitious card routine is amazing rev. i'll have to find one of his tutorial dvds.

Helloooo from Sheffield! In a previous life I think I lived in your neck of the woods - I'm strangely drawn to "Bronte country" and may or may not have been involved with the Cottingley Fairies (oo-er).
