Magicians/Guitarists

"Erdnase" - Django Reinhardt (first great of the modern era)
Dai Vernon - Jimi Hendrix (took it all to a different level)
Juan Tamariz - Jeff Beck (the connoisseur's choice)
Darwin Ortiz - Eddie Van Halen (lots of flashy moves)
David Blaine - Kurt Cobain (inspired a new generation)
Derren Brown - The Edge (popular material performed to the masses)

I'm sorry, I know I keep reviving this thread with my own self-indulgent news, but again, I'm very excited...

Today saw the completion of my pedal board.

I've been piecing it together for quite a while now, having finally splashed out on a proper case for my pedals rather than have them knock together in a flimsy duffle bag I acquired in the 80's.

Korg DT10 Tuner
DOD Milk Box Compressor
Modified Dunlop Crybaby (true bypass, a few tone tweaks... and an LED :P )
Proco Rat (the final element, which arrived today - it really is the dog's proverbial)
Ibanez TS7 modified to TS808
Marshall Vibratrem (sounds like a sex toy, but no, it's a guitar pedal)
Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe
Boss DD-6
DOD Fx96 Analog delay/Echo

...going into the aforementioned modified Epiphone valve junior.

Now I'm just waiting for the Bill Lawrence pick-up to arrive to whack in the telecaster and finis - as good a set up as I'll never need, really.

Having spent the 80s using a monster FX rack I'm now on a minimalist approach.

Guitar (PRS) -> Keeley-mod SD-1 -> Morley "Tremonti" Wah -> Amp (MESA) with BOSS RV5 in the loop

Hear it in action tonight at O'Neill's in Woking from 10pm! 8)

Is the Keeley mod DS-1 any good? Presumably so or you wouldn't have it! I just sold my DS-1, it was a toss up between modding it and selling it to fund the proco Rat. I'm sure the modded version sounds great, but I couldn't be happier with the Rat :D It's there to provide nasty distortion, whereas I use the tubescreamer for warmer overdrive.

Edit: aah, you said SD-1, my mistake.

I recently learned, much to my dismay, that ibanez is cancelling the iceman series of guitar. Just as I was planning on buying one. Not too big a loss however, as they are continuing the bass line

And on a side note, I wanted to introduce you guys to a great guitarist whose been posting videos of himself playing on youtube for a while now, his covers are pretty good and I love his original songs so check him out:

A little late to this thread - I'm left-handed so getting guitars has always been a pain. I have a Mex Telecaster that I've had for about six years, and I've never really been tempted away by anything else. It's the best guitar I've ever played in all that time. I'm quite lo-tech really, Fender guitar, Fender amp, graphic fuzz pedal in between, I'm happy. Considered adding a chorus pedal in there, and have been considering it for five years. One day I will decide.

Favourite guitarists: Elliott Smith, Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Kurt Cobain, Victor Villareal/Sam Zurick (Ghosts 'n' Vodka, Cap'n Jazz), Laura Marling, Jim Heath (The Reverend Horton Heat) and Johnny Marr. To name but a lot.
