Magic meets.....Dancing? wait what

Postby flaw07 » Feb 20th, '09, 03:55

So apparantly its a dancing show and they wanted to come up with something to ramp up the difficulty so they said "Lets make them do magic." then brought in a professional magician to teach them the effects. Personaly, I found them to have been done fairly well given the context of what they are doing. I was wondering what everyone else thought.

Thankfully in a userfriendly move, MTV networks tabs each episode so you can fast forward directly to the routines instead of listening to all the boring talking stuff.

My bad. I wasnt aware this was already here. To be honest if I hadn't gotten this link in an email yesterday, I probably would've never known about that show, much less these routines.

I guess I should learn to use the search feature

Thats ok. If you had done a search, it would probably never found this, because there isnt anything in my post to indicate what it contains :)

For grandscale stage magic, I bet it's easier to take a dancer and teach them magic than to take a magician and teach them to dance.

If the spectator doesn't engage in the effect,
then the only thing left is the method.

you dont have to teach a magician to dance.

Give him a frilly shirt, and a pair of tight leather trousers, and he automaticaly thinks he's Travolta

In all honesty, I've long believed that the two things most stage illusionists need are dance lessons and good choreography.

Jeff McBride's advice at Blackpool included taking ballroom dancing lessons to assist with magical moves and posture. Apparently he and his wife are taking such lessons  !
