As a background to this story I should say it is indeed a rant about something well, a little less than relevant, yet being the comedy enthusiast, and for a short while there, comidian that I am(was) I had to get this off my chest.
So, I don't know how popular he is overseas, but here in the states we have this dreadfull comedian "Larry the Cable Guy". To be short, I despise this man he has done nothing for comedy and in fact for the first 5 years on a semi national scale, he rode the coat tails of several other popular, yet equally mediocre comidians. And now cable channel Comedy Central is giving a roast in his honor.
Are times so bad that this is the best we can do. I mean, last I checked, you were supposed to earn something like this. There are MANY people out there who deserve this honor yet get passed over year after year. How about a post mortum roast of George Carlin, who is arguably the greatest comic of all time. Or Kevin Smith, who has made some of the biggest, funniest, cult movies ever(Clerks, Dogma, etc) Why is this guy getting all the glory. Am I crazy for being upset of the promotion of mediocrity
Ok I feel better now. Sorry.
