It could be worse... this is from the current issue of the Fortean Times:
Klaus Thaler, 42, hid 11,590 euros in books in his home in Moenchengladbach, Germany, because he didn't trust banks. He lost the lot when his wife binned the books during a decorating spree. "I can't believe it," said Thaler. (December 2008)

My nephew - bless him, went through one of my draws in my magic room and found some loose change.
Coin Unique?
No not that, but (after much effort) he did manage to strip both my coinvex's.
Needless to say the little tyke will not be let anywhere near that room in the future...
