Is awesome, went to a midnight realease, and have been up all day playing. My only gripe is that it opens with a shot of my favourite character from the series' tombstone.
Anyone else played it, thoughts?

I got a promotional copy a week back.
I think it's nice. It won't make game of the year, or even close though.

I loved the RE series when I used to play on the Playstation but since moving to the PC years ago I've found it difficult to enjoy. The games themselves are fantastic but the PC ports are simply lazy, RE4 in particular making an otherwise engaging game something that was a pain and an effort to play.
With 'old' consoles dropping in price I might look at getting a Gamecube and copy of RE sometime soon. There was so much praise for this version when it came out that I'd love to try it.

Combined with a friend of mines Facebook status and that I can comfortably call you both bar-stewards
I am very annoyed by this news and even more annoyed that I can't play this game for ages!
Grrr!!
You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

You can pick up Gamecubes for pocket money nowadays, so if you're thinking about it you might as well go for it.
The best place I know of for retro equipment and secondhand games is your local Cash Converters. They also have a website:
http://www.cashconverters.co.uk/
There's lots of Gamecubes on eBay for as little as a fiver, or up to £50+ if you want a library of games along with the console.

i never liked the resident evil series really...
i've been replaying mass effect recently - and will be looking forward to having relations with the blue alien woman in it later on...
i've but an embargo on myself buying any new games...I'm revisiting all my faves as i bought myself a nice posh hd tv at christmas...and i have the hdmi cable too...
there's a handheld console out that has a fair few megadrive games built in too - i got my mate that for christmas, and he's still playing it now..it can plug straight into the telly too...
