Competition entry

Postby Ky1eNewton » Mar 20th, '09, 20:45

I entered a competition on a site called 1Click2Fame quite a while ago and managed to get into the final heats today for my magic performance - this means I need as many votes as possible to stand a chance of getting into the finals. I would REALLY appreciate it if you could quickly vote on the video - I know it's not one of my best but it was done in quite a rush :/. Thankyou to everyone who does :)

Do you have a link to the other performances you're competing against? I'll vote for you if you really are the best, but not just because you've told me to.

Magic Mark was getting people to vote for a talent competition a while back - which he won - but he was the best entrant.

There's 100 different performers who are also in the final heats but I'm the only magician that I know of... whether I'm the best performer competing is a mater of opinion  some of the stuff people are doing on there is pretty awesome such as the parkour guys.

Ah, fair enough. I assumed that a "final" heat would only be a handful.

It seems a weird way of picking a winner if there are so many people and they're just relying on number of votes. What if some guy has thousands of friends? He'd win even if he sucked ass.

Good luck with it! I hope you do well.

I know you were just looking for votes in posting this, but are you inviting comments as well? I have some advice if you'd like to hear it.

Well the main thing I was going to say was stand back from the camera. There are a couple of times when the cards go full out of shot, and you can't see what's going on. Why not have a shot that included your face as well? It'd be way more interesting than just some dudes hands...

Thanks for the advice, I'll take it into consideration when making my next video, although I do have this video which I made about 2 weeks after the original video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb2cHGz-7Y8

I can't claim to know much about card manipulation, but I totally agree with this. Same with anyone doing 'magic' on youtube.
I (and I can't imagine I'm the only one) get bored really quickly just watching hands playing with cards.
As someone with an interest in magic, I thought it was impressive enough to make me watch it, if I didn't, I probably would have got bored.

Pretty cool stuff though...
