Emerge Triumphant by Oz Pearlman

Postby Dar_Kwan » Mar 12th, '04, 13:17

The Effect
This is an in your hands Triumph effect. For those of you who don't know what that is...
The Magician asks a spec to select a card & even though he does several cuts & shuffles the cards face up into face down @ the end of the trick all the cards are faceing the same way except the specs selected card.

The additional kicker with this effect is that the cards have also sorted themselves into Ace through King.

Cost

$12.95 as an Instant Download from Penguin Magic

But fo this you get 2 Tutorial vids - One dealing with the F.shuffle & the 2nd covering the trick it's self

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review

I had wanted to learn a Triumph effect for awhile (not connecting the effect of Tipsy Trick (from RRTCM) with Triumph  ) And this one looked fantastic because whereas other the other Triumph I'v seen required the cards to be interwoven, this one the cards were riffleshuffled together :) making it seem that much more convincing. On Viewing the Tutorial I realised that I might have a challange on my hands & boy was I right, took me about 2 weeks to learn the F.Shuffle another couple of days to get it smooth. another week to get the the flip over move & I'v dispensed with the Ed Marlo move in favour of the pass.
But the reactions I'v had from this have been worth the time put in. the specs are amazed that even though I visibly shuffled the cards Face up & face down that at the end I have them all facing the same way

Overall

10/10 not only is this a great trick, but the slights taught in the Tutoral will serve you in many other tricks :)

just watched the demo for this and i must say it looks very impressive.... i like the style of Oz and the downloads from penguin are very reasonably priced in my opinion... could be another purchase looming...*SIGH*..hehe

Oz Pearlman is a very underrated magician, in terms of both performance AND creativity/teaching.

This is just one of many excellent Oz effects... I have the 'Stealing Pips' and 'Born to Perform' DVDs, which I can wholeheartedly recommend if you like what you see here.

Great guy, great prices. Basically, taking old effects, dusting them off, and adding a bit of Oz.

Brilliant!

 Oh... I was considering to buy this trick but I'm still a relativly ametuer magician. I don't think I could handle a "4" yet. I'd be going in over my head.

I totally agree. I think that part of the reason that he's under rated is due to his association with Penguin. I wonder how many people simply see him as a demo guy instead of the good magician that he is?

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

This trick involes three relatively difficult slieghts. I myself never got the trick but after careful examination and trial and error I had figured it out. Yes it does take short preparation but no, it does not damage cards. Also, once you've learned it, you find that the whole trick from start to finish is just an optical olusion (like in Renagade). :)
