If I hadn't seen the advert I wouldn't have believed it was possible for 'where the wild things are' to be translated to cinema. (a book only ten sentences long for those who don't know, and it you don't, shame on you.)

But this could be brilliant, for once the movie will actually go into more detail than the book.

Crikey, that brings back some memories; I used to love that book as a kid. Hope the film is as good as the trailer makes out.

Talking about going back to childhood memories, I can't wait to see Race to Witch Mountain. Escape to Witch Mountain was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid, and the remake looks eye-popping. :)

Where the Wild Things Are could be a hit or a miss. I'll reserve my judgement (but I'll still be buying tickets for me and the munchkin!).

If its a Spike Jonze movie, you're in good hands.

Wish they'd have left the Arcade Fire song alone though, it was bad enough U2 walking on to it.

Looks like there going for a sob story rather than the more important tale of brat gets no supper. Another bit of my childhood spoilt.

I think the point of the book (and hopefully the film), is that children have no control over their life (bed without supper) so they use play to escape (becomes king of the wild things).

They are at least using the Jim Henson workshop for the monsters, so that at least will be done superbly.

I don't know what Jonze is like, but I reckon Del Toro would've done a cracking job with this one.

He directed Being John Malkovich and then is better known for music videos. Known for the beastie boys, Bjork, REM, chemical brothers. The music videos are usually good. But then he also co-created jackass, so not all good.

I was thinking about Pan's Labyrinth at the time. Don't even think about disrespecting that film or I'll have Mandrake ban your sorry behind forever! Muwaahahahahahaaa! Hahahaaahahaa!!

I'm seriously in two minds.... part of me thinks it looks pretty good... they're obviously just using the book as a springboard for something else, with the appearance of the characters and general feeling hopefully being transmitted.

Although, it would be a real shame if children saw the film before reading the book, or just came to see the book as a cartoon representation of the film, without reading the book and using their imaginations. :?
