Facial Hair

Postby JakeThePerformer » Apr 18th, '09, 02:37

I'm 17 and I still don't have facial hair growing. Almost everyone else around me does, and it bothers me. I took that male cycle quiz and I was at 3.9 out of 5 stages. 5 is the absolute end of growth. Stage 4 is around when facial hair starts.
I find it odd that mine hasn't yet. I'm not saying I can't grow a beard, or something silly like that, I just don't have anything. No fuzz, nothing you could find, even if you were looking for it. Don't innuendo bingo that last sentence.

Anyhow, does anyone know if this is normal at all, and if there is any way to speed up the process? I know protien helps a little, and I'm trying to get more of that. I just don't know what to do. It's just annoying to be 17, but not look near it. I know some people say, "Oh, having to shave is so annoying anyhow. Trust me, your lucky," or stuff like that. But I don't care. I just want to look my age. Is it normal for it to take this long? It really is annoying.

Thanks.

You won't be saying that when you do start shaving (which, by the way, should be very shortly). I know you don't want to hear this, but for me shaving is just a pain in the neck (sometimes literally). Come to think of it, perhaps I could get that laser treatment and have my face zapped so I never have to shave again? Hmmm....

Just let nature take its course and it will come. And I know you disagree with this, but enjoy not needing to shave while it lasts.

It's not that unusual Jake, my brother was about your age when he first started growing facial hair, and one of my good friends was nearly 19!

It's just different for everyone.

Your situation is a lot better than those who start growing huge beards at 14.

We all reckon one of my best mates hit puberty at the age of about 12. Voice broke and beard began to appear. These things happen at different rates. don't worry about it Jake.

Don't worry. EVERYTHING is normal during puberty.

 whats wrong with that, eh eh eh?!

i would suggest you wet-shave now...it may be that you need to kick start it...though im sure a doctor could give you better advice than us...

i knew a guy that was as smooth as a plastic smooth thing, then one day for a bet - he shaved off all his hair..EVERYTHING! within about 4 months, he was hairier than any man should be...

Jake/Ben?whatever your real name is ...

Do you not feel like a proper mentalist then because you don't have the mandatory beard??... Is that the desire to have something you are then going to throw away?.. Unless of course you have some wierd shaved hair fetish which you keep in a tin, in which case i can understand your desire (although i would be slightly concerned lol..)...

As a side question then, for you lubly boys how long after you got facial hair did you shave it, i mean did you grow a "beard" or "tash" for the novelty of having one?? Oooo look at me ive got nasty stuff on my face lol..

I work with a bloke who is 21 and he has not got a zilch of hair on his face. It hits people at different times, so don't worry about when it comes!

I do remember though, shaving once every other day for about a month to try and get more facial hair , I don't know if it did anything, or if it was just nature, but I'm pretty sure it got thicker.

Now though, shaving is boring and I just let it grow. It's good that my job lets me turn up wearing whatever I want, and looking scruffy as sin, otherwise I would have to get up 5 minutes earlier to shave, everyday for the rest of my life. I don't think I could do it!

Fairie, I'm 18 and have been dared to grow either a goatee or muttonchops. But I can't decided. Any suggestions?!

When my hair started waving goodbye to my head I grew a full beard, very regal and distiguished so I thought until some guy said, Oh look - his head's on upside down!'. I shaved the beard off within two hours of that remark!
