Good question!

One on-line Dictionary says:
Hypnotism –noun
1. the science dealing with the induction of hypnosis.
2. the act of hypnotizing.

Hypnosis – noun, plural
1. an artificially induced trance state resembling sleep, characterized by heightened susceptibility to suggestion.

Doesn't help much, does it :? ?!
