I vote Midlands too, but if everyone's pulling in different directions I'd say somewhere that's just as inconvenient for everybody, such as a mountain, or the moon.

The problem is that if it's too far North or too far South then it becomes less available to those outside of the area whereas somewhere central does tend to provide a happy medium for most (or some in the case of TM'ers  )

If there is genuine interest then there are plenty of camping sites for those wanting an overnight stay.

I'll make some enquiries and get back to you all.

With highspeed trains to be fair most places are accessible. I often head down to London from Manchester for meets. However that doesn't mean I'd go the midlands.

Bit of an odd one to arrange something like this (difficult I mean) and there is no history of a meet in Birmingham I don't think. Good luck, not sure i'll attend if its not leeds, manchester or London though

The Midlands is a darn site bigger than just Birmingham you know

Picnics are usually held somewhere in the countryside and we have a little more of that than London does. After all, to most Londoners the countryside is Twickenham, Feltham and Hounslow

There appears to be little sense of adventure.

Hmmm, I spot a few vested interests here. Try to be impartial people! I vote for the Midlands, even though I'm near London.

Im in Essex but being in a re enactment group spread from the north of Scotland to cornwall (Even switzerland in some cases) we always do find our social meets easy in the Midlands.

Or if that just will not work we sometimes have area meets....... like say All those from Essex and down south meet some where.......The midlanders meet somewhere else.......and the northerners meet somewhere else.
