Come Fly With Me....

Postby The Magi » Apr 30th, '09, 22:22

Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to the boards here and I have searched for a review of this but couldn't find it.

Firstly, does anyone have this and could you please submit a review if so.

And secondly.... does anyone know where the hell you can find a full video of this routine? I mean for the price you need to see the goods up front!

Cheers

I have this and have reviewed it on TM somewhere. You'll need to google it and you should find it relatively easily.

You can also see a video demo of it on http://www.jbtv.co.ukunder coin effects and they are the sole UK distributor for CFWM.

Personally, I'b buy new as for the hefty second hand prices you may not get the real deal. I've been stung a few times on ebay when buying coins that have been misadvertised and despite what it says in the T's and C's, I've not yet got any of my money back.

Hi dat8962,

Thanks for that, but i really wouldn't call that a demo. For something of that cost, I would expect to see the routine fully and clearly without all the "recommendations" pooping (pun intended) up on the screen.

If there is one thing magic has thought me.... NEVER believe the hype. I was hoping to catch an actual performance of it but it seems to be nowhere found on the net?

I found your review through google but for some reason I couldn't get it on the search engine here?

And sorry to hear you got caught buying from other magicians, happened to me as well a few years back and I swore never again. Unless they are a close friend with a reason for selling it I wouldn't by it dude.

I hear the biggest one people are getting caught with on ebay is the first edition of pure effect, the price is crazy for it... and then you dont get the real first edition.

To be honest with ya, it's bad enough to have to buy from dealers. I suppose we all get it at some stage.

I've been caught when trying to buy original Eddie Gibson coins which I collect. The only one I need now is agenuine £2/10p

Anyway, I'm glad that you found the review. The routine only lasts 2 minutes or so, so yes, it's expensive but I use it a lot. It does take some time to refine the handling but keep at it and you'll have a great routine but a lot less money.

I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I can clarify a few bits for you from the online video clip

Oops - I'll look later today

Thanks man... There's no urgency with it as I'm not exactly swimming in it but it is always something that caught my attention and I love to at least see it to know if it really is worth buying you know?

OK. I've watched the JBTV trailer - it's been a while

and this is the original review of CFW - http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/sutra142599.php

I've also noticed that there are one or two people advertising for these sets on Magic Week.

On the DVD that accompanies the coins you get one routine that when mastered, will take around three minutes to perform. Only a few snippets are included on the JBTV promo but that does give a good representation of what the routine looks like to your spectators.

Despite the gimmicks, this WILL take some time to learn the handling of the coins so that they appear natural and also so that you can handle them with the confidence that you need.

When I perform CFWM now, the reactions make it worthwhile BUT, I bought the set that uses the Kennedy quarters and I wish that instead, I had bought the Morgan dollars. They are a much larger coin than the quarters and I have large hands. I think that the promo video uses the Morgans so you'll get a decent appreciation of the size if you take a good look.

As for the DVD, the teaching is fairly good but there is only one routine that is taught.

Hope that helps and you'll need to justify the money  .

Thanks for that... I think at the moment it's the only thing thats really tempting me to buy it.

When I have the cash I think I will get it. Damn you magic, why are you such an expensive hobby!
