You know those offers in newspapers, where you send some amount for postage and handling, and get a CD or gadget or some such thing? Generally something promoting a newly released film, or else a low-budget DVD or computer game.

Here's the site that handles most of those offers. They're all available to anyone -- you don't have to buy the paper that's running any particular promotion. A good many of the items might be of special interest to movie memorabilia collectors.

I'm not affiliated with the site or anything, but I've used them before and found them legitimate, and thought others might enjoy having a browse. Although all the goodies are technically free, the P&P can be high, so don't get carried away.

EDIT: I've just noticed they have the PC games Solitaire Master 3 and Puzzle Master 4. I've owned SM3 and PM3 for years, and can confirm I was happy to pay twice the price for each. Have snapped up PM4 while it's available. The Lexicon word game is worth it, too.

:: bump ::

I've just spotted a new offer on the Freebie Gifts site: Alice in Wonderland cards, to promote the Tim Burton movie. They seem to be a very standard deck with an Alice in Wonderland back, so not as cool as they could have been, but at £1.45 a pack (+ VAT) someone might be interested!

Or there's a combo set of the cards and a promotional DVD.

I also see the Explore Space Live set is still available -- well worth the price and suitable for any amateur astronomer, especially (but not exclusively) kids. You get membership in SLOOH and 200 minutes of telescope time, for goodness sake!

Whee! The "phony Wii" video game arrived today in an impressively large box. It's a cheapie, of course, but turned out nicer than I was expecting. A good selection of 16-bit games (theoretically 198 games, but there are a lot of duplications), and decent wireless controllers. Certainly worth £8 of anybody's money.

The only problem with it is that I'm too busy to play with it properly!

There was a Harry Potter goodie bag thrown in, too. That's going on eBay. Whatever it sells for, I'll consider a discount off the price of the video game.

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Just had a browse round again. Everything discussed here so far is still available, including the Alice in Wonderland cards, various video games, and the "pseudo-Wii" (which has gone up to £10.99 but is still well worth it).

There's a good selection of stocking fillers for those looking for last-minute Christmas prezzies, and not all are obvious promotions, though it may be too late to count on delivery.

The 7-inch Android tablet is cheaper at Morgan Computers, though.
