New look Alakazam website

Postby Replicant » May 9th, '09, 19:02

It's much better than before. The search box is now in a prominent position at the top of the home page! Hoorah! The product layout is better and it is much easier to browse. There is now a VIP Club and you even get a shiny card in the post when you join up.

And, as if all that wasn't enough, you can also get 10% off your order if you find the cunningly hidden code....

Nice, I like it! :D

Wonder how long the code will be there for?

It's a lot better than the old one, but still has incredibly annoying parts.

At least the search function returns a reasonably useful list. I could never find anything on the old site.

That's a lot better, much easier to find things now. I stopped even trying to shop on that site because it was so difficult to browse but that's much better now. And I've found the 10% off code, even better.

Does it tell you whether items are in stock?

I rarely shop at Alakazam unless they have something nobody else does. On more than a couple of occasions, they've had me waiting weeks for delivery of items. Their staff have spun me lines about my order going into the post that day, only to inform me some weeks later that they're actually waiting for the goods to come in from their suppliers. If that had just happened once, I'd be a little more tolerant of them, but it appeared to be the norm during my killer CUPS period...

So I now won't place an order with them unless I first phone and get their reassurance that the items I want are actually in their hands and going into a jiffy bag with my name and address on it!

Posting your session id will only, if anything, allow others to access your account. Knowing an SQL statement for a site what's potentially using open source software anyway doesn't mean you can do an SQL injection attack (which is illegal, by the way)

They've now said that 'due to complexity of new website' they're 'actively moving to a new server' - so site down for the time being...

I like the new site nice and clean and alot more options rather than looking through countless pages after items. I haven't checked the search bar yet that used to do my nut in bringing up everything else but the thing I want.
I like the look of the VIP card aswell might have to get me one of them babys.

Pcwells, That is strange I find Alakazams delivery service and the customer service to be absolutely brilliant, everything I have ordered from them has been with me in no more than the second day after the day I ordered and the guys there have always been honest and offered great advice, It is very strange how the same company can make two people have opposite views about its services.
