Anyone know this effect?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a trick I saw ages ago that goes something like this (memory is a bit hazy...). The spectator is given a set of ESP cards and you have a set of ESP cards, they choose a ESP symbol from a face down spread and you pick one from your face down spread, and they both match... but then one of the decks are blank except for the chosen card.

As I said the memory is a bit hazy on that one so if you guys know of any effect that fits that description, I would love to hear it.

Which brings me to why I thought of it just now and my second question.

I have Josuha Jay's fantastic carrier case and I'm looking for suitable things to carry around in it, the above would be a great packet effect to slot in with the cards and coins in there already. I also carry elastic bands, flash paper and some gimmicked cards, and the set up for EI in there. I'm also thinking of carrying around an IT set up but there is a slight problem with that which I'm working on.

So just for ideas, does anyone else have this case and if so what do you keep in it?

This thread reminds me of this local band that used to play round my way when I was growing up, they were called The Lone Gunmen.

This should have gone in that other thread you started where people were discussing your name and correct plurals etc., my apologies.

And surely that's just five marked cards in the spec's hand, five cards in your hand and a four-card packet switch for the blanks? Although the difficulty of the trick depends on which of you ends up with the blanks. Or is it a packet trick that has some sort of extra thing that I'm missing? You could make that trick yourself with 14 blank cards (and, if you've a steady hand, a Sharpie).

If we can hit that bullseye then the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards... Checkmate!

Yeah, sounds like ESPerfect. I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but here goes (again)...

The best ESP effect I have seen is Doug Dyment's Bob's Your Uncle as featured in his Mindsights booklet. It uses ten, ungaffed ESP cards and is a simple and direct symbol matching effect. Looch's Wake Up, Dr. Rhine! (SAD book and Your Thoughts are Mine! DVD) comes a close second. There are also several excellent effects on Magicbox's Submodalities DVD. Sam Dalal's booklet, Magic with an ESP Deck, is also superb and great value-for-money, too. If you have any interest in ESP effects, then you really should look into the above material.

in the 70's the same basic routine was being done with Jumbo sized Playing Cards and marketed as "JUMBO BLANKO"... it was a very fun sucker routine similar to the Macomical Prediction in feel.

Ah guys thanks a lot!

Tom you were spot on as that was the effect indeed, and it's perfect for the Joshua Jay close up case.

Never bought from Alakazam before... they seem to have a good selection, must check them out more.
