The latest issue of the Fortean Times (FT250 Special 2009, cover story "Invizikids") has two brief articles that may be of special interest to those present:
Miracle at Silverstone
In 1998 Uri Geller did what was apparently an impromptu bend of a spanner for some mechanics at the British Grand Prix. The article examines not only the story but the spanner itself, testing how much force would be needed to bend it.
For those (like me!) who have always dismissed Geller as a mere charlatan, this article should raise some interesting and disturbing questions.
Psychic Fads: Table-Turning
Part of the FT's "Blasts from the Past" series. Just as spoon-bending was all the rage in the 1970s, table-turning (or table-tipping) was the main demonstration of paranormal power in Victorian times. This article features a typical session that got out of hand and became a full-on poltergeist event.
The Fortean Times is always worth reading, and I've been a subscriber for many years. Heartily recommended to all.
