I wish I could remember the guys name, he worked as a feature for the Blackstone show for a short while in the late 70s and early 80s and was second generation Quick Change artist.
This guy would change his gender, body build and voice in vignettes in which he's play all of the characters to plays like Oliver or Tom Sawyer. It was a phenomenal thing to watch both, from the audience and back stage where a good 1/2 dozen assistance stood at the ready to remove and add on the various bits of costume.
From the audience point of view it seemed that he'd barely vanish from one point on the stage (like a doorway), then he'd be walking through a window or other set piece at the other end of the stage in completely different regalia. It was all one single guy, not doppelgangers or the such.
I've not seen anything like this since. Though I find the bits such as Lee and others do as being quite cool, they seem to fall short when it comes to the potential around the art form... which sadly, is a dying thing, if not dead. Only these recent applications to the concept, offering it a glimmer of hope.
