Introduction to Mentalism

Postby Lyndon Webb » Jun 7th, '09, 15:21

Tomorrow night at 8pm
I am conducting a mini lecture on beginning in Mentalism, to the Farnborough Association of Magical Entertainers (My own local society)

As we are a very small society (About 16 turn up), those of us with any experience in a chosen field are lecturing (In turn), as it isnt fair on guest lecturers as they wont make enough money.

If anyone is interested it is at

St Marks Church Hall
Guildford Rd East
Farnborough, GU14 6PX

If you already perform Mentalism, you probably wouldnt learn anything - But i am going to perform two of my own effects.

Normally visiting Magicians pay £5 to lectures but how about a donation of £2.50 to the society?

If i am not allowed to put this here can a nice Admin delete it :D

Oh I'd love to - I'm not too far away - but I shall just be finishing an hour of torture at 8 as a physio takes out his frustrations on my poor injured back.

It normally finishes at about 10pm, but some have to disappear early.

sorry, I've checked the train times and google maps and I'd end up getting home about 10 minutes before I'd need to leave for work in the morning.

However, to echo Craig, why not stick a video camera in front of yourself?

Isn't it nearer to North Camp station? The world's campest station!

I might come along to this event. I hope you will be wearing black and sporting a goatee. Otherwise you, sir, are no mentalist!

I second that. It would take me a while to swim across the pond. ;)

I third,

If anyone wants help I can teach anyone how to create a podcast.

Might be a nice addition to talk magic as it can be recorded over IP chat's and thus you could interview members regardless of their location in the world.

Yea, but can you teach an old dude how to work those odd buttons & switches? :?

I love the technology but I'll be damned if I can ever work that stupid controller right... I like switches that simply turn things on, off and maybe control volume or current. Not one button that does a million things IF (and I do stress "IF") you can remember all the combinations and manipulations and what order to do them in.

It's really maddening :(
