I don't think I've heard any 3 words more than these : Bascom Jones - Magick. I'm so curious as to who in TM owns the series ? I've seen some copies go for 1200 USD or so, and it's way to much for me to afford

Any idea if this will be digitized like Theo Anneman's Jinx ? Or The Pabular Magazine ??

I've the 4 volumes and it's a goldmine of mental principles.
A real Bible of references. Well, what else can I say ?

Speaking about Bascom Jones, you'll find an interesting little article written by him in "Miracle of Friends" by Burton S.Sperber. The book has a nice selection of effects/articles by Max Maven, Jules Lenier, T.A.Waters, Max Abrams and others.

Over the years I've (unfortunately) lost the original news letters I'd obtained in the 80s and late 70s but there was just so much information that I couldn't possibly use a minor fraction of it all... quite overwhelming at times.

I'm aware of a complete collection now available and could check with the seller, should you be interested.

If, btw, Mentalism and the Bizarre are of interest to you there are several other collections of this kind; compiled collections of yesteryear news letter styled publications as well as magazines that you should consider investing in. If you are "new" to the field the SYZYGY collection could prove rather priceless

i have to say i wish some of the bascome jones stuff was available on disk.

Everywhere i go, it's refferenced, and i would dearly love to have it. but it's just so out of my price range these days.

The upshot is, i have to develop my own stuff, and that im mainly loosing out on refferences for acreditation.

My sincere apologies for reviving this very old thread, and that it is not being posted in the mentalism section (I am too new to have access to that area). I have the opportunity to make some investments in toys err I mean mentalism, and while I do have a grocery list of various things I would like, I do tend to prefer books and tools to dvd's or individual tricks, and have had this set in my mind for years. At one time I actually did own volume 4 of the series as it was relatively easy to acquire, but had to sell it some years later. Nevertheless I quite enjoyed it. It would be a stretch, but I might be able to at least get the damaged set that Collectors Workshop sells at a reduced price.

My question is, as someone who has a good deal of the important classic texts (Corinda/Annemann/Waters/Becker/Lesley/etc) and other materials (mostly old works, but a little newer material), would the material contained within the 5 volume set be recommended for someone who is looking for a good source of presentations, thoughts, methods and effects? As far as the Herculean task of actually sorting through the tomes of knowledge I will confess I am figuratively salivating at the premise, and look forward to whether soon or years down the line reading through it. That said, I am trying to be somewhat practical in my purchases, and thus wish to make the best use of my funds as possible. I do not have all that many newer books or DVD's on mentalism (let's classify these as 2009 on), and although I am not all that into the recent trend of propless mentalism (although I did acquire Naked Mentalism many years ago after seeing it recommended here and loved it), I recognize that there may be presentations, ideas, and methods in newer material that would be beneficial to at least be aware of. However my impression from what I read of the Magick compendium was that the wealth of material was enough to last a lifetime. I just wish to make sure it is not all that much of a reiteration/version of a lot of the material I currently own.

Any help or insight here from someone who has read the collection would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance for your time.

Hello all! Haven't been on in a while, but thought I'd check in on this feed in particular.
I finally, after a few years, gave in and recently obtained these from Viking and could not be happier.
I really appreciate that they arrived ahead of schedule. I spent $813.00 on these- if you can afford a little extra, the completed index will definitely save you a headache. Highly recommended. Reading the heartfelt words about Bascom in the index really put the history of these issues in perspective.
I offer a few words on the material within since I've only had them for a few days. This is A LOT of information. There are a few "clinkers," but I continue to find what I hoped for after all these years. There is a wealth of workable ideas. There is something for everyone.
If you can afford these, do not hesitate. However, these really are meant for the serious student.
And these combined with other classics are a master class. I will treasure these!
