Last night I saw Derren Brown at the Adelphi in London. Three weeks ago I saw him at the Hexagon in Reading. Seeing two shows on the same tour was a VERY interesting experience! I'm not going to give anything away but if anyone else saw the show more than once can they PM me so we can compare notes?
Several things, and one in particular, really shocked my (probably naive) beliefs about how DB works.

This week has been the Adelphi preview shows, done to get the lighting etc. right. Tonight is the press show, I think. Then it's all guns blazing.

I don't think so. Last night was just a normal show as part of the London run. Anyway, the show was very slick and I enjoyed it more this time (Reading was a bit flat). But that DB is a naughty man!

Hmmm. That's weird. Nyman says they were technical previews.

The Adelphi site says...
Dates
Opens 15th June 2009
Opening night 17th June 2009
Closes 18th July 2009
...so I guess you're right. But there was no indication of this when the tickets were bought. Anyway it all went well and my friends enjoyed it. But they hadn't seen it before! And therefore weren't outraged at a couple of points like I was!

this mornings metro says its open tonight.
but...why be outraged? That sounds like a magician thing to say.
now you can understand why many magicians hate mentalists. Its down to the methods used being simple and ballsy.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Stoner...I didn't see you! Although, I was standing on the door and I saw a lot of people!
PM me with some thoughts, I've seen in thrice now.

I really enjoyed the shows, got a personal invite! Its quite easy to see how he lays out his stall, how the majority of the effects can be purchased from Lybrary.com but he has the charm of probably all the magicians on this forum
Inspirational show and cracking writing from Nyman.

Brilliant link!!
You can see most of Derrens "tricks" there LOL
As it has been stated on here the big difference with Derren is the fact he has charisma and he makes himself someone you want to watch.
David Blaine used to be like this until he came on one of our moring shows and just looked either mad or ignorant!

I find Lybrary.com really good at sourcing interesting reading material, definitely recommend it but not for the credit card.

It gave me a lot of insights! I found out a few new methods I never read about in books. Just great!
For me as a spectator: great show!!! Was really entertained! It was well worth the trip from Holland
