Welcome to... Psychoville

Postby Farlsborough » Jun 20th, '09, 17:37

Did anyone else see this the other night? I watched the first episode, then the second via "the red button" - you can watch the first one on iPlayer.

It's from a couple of the League of Gentlemen guys. The League can look bit dated now, but it was fantastic in it's day, and although the humour is similar I'm really enjoying this!

I particularly love the blind Oscar Lomax, dealer of valuable commodities...

I wasn't expecting to enjoy Psychoville much, but I though it was a dark triumph.

It kept my attention. Mr Jelly seemed strangely familiar to a number of people I've seen perform.

I thought it very strange, dark, and wonderful.
i recorded it, and watched today, so i haven't seen the next one yet.
the characters out strange the league.100%.

and what makes it all the darker is, its located in real places.
the freaks are among us.

realy great, the charactors were fleshed out just enough in the first show to make you wan't to follow them.
lets see how the next few episodes go, my fav's the psychic dwarf and good old dawnie the potential baby snatcher or perhapse shes going to do a chucky. :D

I was very glad that I watched this. Shame I was away from home at the time, so couldn't watch the second part, but I'll get my chance soon. It felt that it held together better than the League's stuff, as each scene worked in its own right, but also as part of the larger plot.

 I knew I recognized that title

I was looking through the ON DEMAND listings last night and saw Psychoville listed... I guess I'll have to take a deep breath and jump into a few moments of torture...

Apparently Psychoville was the name of The League of Gentlemen when it aired in Japan.
