Happy birthday to one of the towering geniuses of the 20th Century science. If it weren't for him, it's HIGHLY likely none of you would be here to read this.

He died in 1954, so if anybody did just rush to the shops for a card..... :)

however, none of us would be here if it wasnt for his work.

Well said chaps. (but let's not forget the largely unsung hero, Tommy Flowers, the telephone engineer who largely built Colossus off his own back and using his own money - after the Army bigwigs initially poo poo'd his idea of using valves to create the machine). The modern world owes them both a huge debt of gratitude.

Yes indeedy. The only thanks Flowers got was a repayment of the £1000 of his own money he spent building the prototype Colossus and an MBE he wasn't allowed to talk about.
